HMP While I Faint: The September Issue

Hey gang it's been a while. What in the world have I been thinking by neglecting you of my presence! *batting eyelashes* I just had to handle some fake purses that the devil started throwing at me. Now I'm back :) Let's chat.

September 11 for the past 8 years has been a day in which the country comes together to reflect, mourn and remember. You can't possibly escape it. Every station has some person's account of the day's events. I was a first year graduate student at Howard University when it all went down and living in DC during that time was horrific. The sense of normalcy definitely took a hiatus in our area and I still don't think America has fully recovered from that devastating blow.

There is something magically happening in the world of Fashion on September 11th. And if only for a couple hours we can take our minds off of the painful past and focus the present with the Mount Olympus of Fashion Magazines: Vogue Magazine's September Issue. On the throne sits Anna Wintour.

You know I almost have heart palpitations just typing this. Most of you all have seen The Devil Wear's Prada and if you haven't please exit stage left and find the nearest REDBOX. Well see, the book was written by a former assistant to Queen Anna, Lauren Weisberger. The movie and book are based loosely on her experience as Anna's assistant at Vogue Magazine, with the main character Miranda Priestly being the cinematic representation of Anna Wintour. Now, if you ask Anna she would say it isn't her, but perception is relative!

It has been a few years since the movie and book were released and finally Anna has come to redeem herself, or, show us how it really goes down at Vogue Magazine, and thus we have The September Issue : Anna Wintour and the Making of Vogue, a documentary by R.J. Cutler (The same guy that directed The War Room)

The 2007 September issue of Vogue is your fashion bible. It was the largest issue of VOGUE to date with 800 plus pages! Do you remember how excited you got as a child when the JC Penney or Sears catalog came out during Christmas? Yeah same thing. We will be privy to an inside look at Anna and her staff at Vogue as they meticulously put together the must do, must have, and must wears of fashion. We will follow them at all the fashion weeks and watch as they make some designers famous and reduce others back to the sketch pad.

Personally I can't wait to see Andre Leon Talley.

I mean he was her right hand for years and he is just a big explosion of grotesque fabulosity! I'm so excited are you? YOU SHOULD BE!

So look, I'm going to grab a full length fur (Don't tase me Peta), some rhinestone studded tortoise shell sunglasses and a chariotto ride into the movie theatre on like when Martin and Gina thought they millions in the lotto. Okay I'm joking but seriously check this movie out and come back to me with your thoughts!
